Google Doodle: Lunar New Year 2015!

A Google doodle for the Lunar New Year. Google uses an animation which illustrates that 2015 is the Year of the Sheep (sheep, goat or ram, since there's a single Chinese word for all of them)....

Niagara Falls Freezes Over Again - Feb 19, 2015!

Feb 19, 2015
Frigid temperatures by the Great Lakes are giving tourists a whole new reason to visit Niagara Falls. The famous waterfalls by the Canada-U.S. border were partially frozen this week as temperatures in the area hit 13 degrees below zero on Monday. Though the falls were hardly frozen solid—water continued to flow—layers of ice built up, giving the impression of a winter wonderland amid its icy mist and surrounding snow.

Jax Audition “I Want To Hold Your Hand” - American Idol 2015!

Jax is originally from New York, but grew up in East Brunswick, NJ. Her father was a NYC
firefighter, but he was forced to retire due to injuries sustained during 9/11. He’s still dealing with the aftermath, since he tragically lost a lot of his fellow brothers that day. Jax believes her singing has been therapy for him, and she feels blessed that he’s even still here with her. It’s a really touching opening package.

Jax hops on the piano and does a mellow, balladeer’s version of “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. It’s absolutely stunning, and is right up there with Joey Cook as one of my favorite auditions of the entire season so far. Her vocal control is impeccable, and her tone is unlike anything we’ve heard yet this season. She has a great look too, although a bit too sparkly. Source

From the start, Jax has seemed naturally at-ease in a performance setting. House of Blues is no different with Jax shuttling between piano bench and mic stand like an old pro. Watch her dramatic rendition of Lady Gaga’s “You and I” here.

Drones: Know The Rules Before You Fly!

Did you get a new unmanned aircraft for the holidays? Here's how to stay off the naughty list.

Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones as they are often called, are increasingly available online and on store shelves. Prospective operators—from consumers to businesses—want to fly and fly safely, but many don’t realize that, just because you can easily acquire a UAS, doesn’t mean you can fly it anywhere, or for any purpose. “Know Before You Fly” is an educational campaign that provides prospective users with the information and guidance they need to fly safely and responsibly. Know Before You Fly was founded by the three leading organizations with a stake in UAS safety – the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and the Small UAV Coalition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is partnering with the founding members to spread the word about safe and responsible flying. Source
