Harry Connick Jr.: Don't Get Around Much Anymore!
Joseph Harry Fowler Connick, Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the son of Anita Frances (Levy), a lawyer and judge, and Harry Connick, Sr. (Joseph Harry Fowler Connick), who served as District Attorney of New Orleans from 1973 to 2003. His father is of Irish, English, and German ancestry, and his maternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Vienna, Austria and Minsk, Belarus. Harry, Jr.'s mother died of ovarian cancer when he was 13.
His parents owned a record store and encouraged their son's interest in music - piano at age three, with a New Orleans jazz band aged ten. He won piano competitions while playing French Quarter clubs and attending the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts. At eighteen, he studied at New York's Hunter College and later on at the Manhatan School of Music. At nineteen, he released his first album for Columbia Records and began an extended run performing at the Algonquin's Oak Room, followed a year later by his second album. He wrote the score and sang several songs for Rob Reiner's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), the soundtrack for which went multi-platinum. So far, while bringing back swing and big band music, he has earned one gold, four platinum and three multi-platinum albums, plus two Grammies. His film acting debut was as B-17 tail-gunner Clay Busby in Memphis Belle (1990). He played mass-murderer Daryll Lee Cullum in the Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter film Copycat (1995) and Captain Jimmy Wilder ("Let's kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy!") in Independence Day (1996).
Harry lives in Connecticut, is married to the former model Jill Goodacre, and has three daughters, Georgia Tatom, Sara Kate and Charlotte. Source

Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015) Video Tribute!
Leonard Nimoy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dora (Spinner) and Max Nimoy, who owned a barbershop. His parents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. Raised in a tenement and acting in community theaters since age eight, Nimoy did not make his Hollywood debut until he was 20, with a bit part in Queen for a Day (1951) and another as a ballplayer in the perennial Rhubarb (1951). After two years in the United States Army, he was still getting small, often uncredited parts, like an Army telex operator in Them! (1954). His part as Narab, a Martian finally friendly to Earth, in the closing scene in the corny Republic serial Zombies of the Stratosphere (1952), somewhat foreshadowed the role which would make him a household name: Mr. Spock, the half-human/half-Vulcan science officer on Star Trek (1966) one of television's all-time most successful series. His performance won him three Emmy nominations and launched his career as a writer and director, notably of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), the story of a humpback whale rescue that proved the most successful of the Star Trek movies. Stage credits have included "Fiddler on the Roof", "Oliver", "Camelot" and "Equus". He has hosted the well-known television series In Search of... (1976) and Ancient Mysteries (1994), authored several volumes of poetry and guest-starred on two episodes of The Simpsons (1989). He recently played Mustafa Mond in NBC's telling of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World (1998). Source
Meet Asuna the Android Robot Girl!
Asuna, the android that’s attracting attention from all over the world
People often look at humanoid robots and think “That’s creepy!” However, Asuna is so human-like that you might find yourself thinking “She’s cute!” instead. Researchers have determined that there is a human instinct to react with disgust when people see something, such as a doll or robot, that appears to be too human while still falling short of looking exactly like the real thing. That said, researchers are now investigating the possibility that extremely human-like robots such as Asuna have the ability to bypass this repulsion entirely and be viewed merely as other people instead.
According to her official profile, Asuna is a beautiful 15-year-old who was “born” in Tokyo. She is 155 cm tall (61 inches) and weighs 43 kg (95 lbs).
Animatronic Robot Dances To Blurred Lines!
Well, this is terrifying. Artist Jordan Wolfson has created a masked animatronic robot that makes eye contact with visitors while gyrating to a slowed-down version of "Blurred Lines." Created with help from a special effects studio in Los Angeles, Wolfson's animatronic robot is on display at the David Zwirner Gallery until April 19, after which the robot will be destroyed (not really, but one can dream).
"Presented here for the first time, Wolfson's animatronic sculpture combines film, installation, and performance in the figure of a curvaceous, scantily clad woman covered in dirt marks and wearing a witch mask," reads the David Zwirner Gallery website. "The woman can be encountered on a one-on-one basis in a mirrored room in the gallery, creating a different kind of viewing experience that intensifies the importance of the gaze found throughout Wolfson's work."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Special Extended Trailer!
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (also known as Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) is an upcoming American epic space opera film directed by J. J. Abrams. The seventh installment in the Star Wars film series (excluding spin-offs), it stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker reprising roles from previous films. The story is set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983).
The Force Awakens will be the first film in the planned third Star Wars trilogy announced after The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012. It is produced by Abrams, his long-time collaborator Bryan Burk, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Lawrence Kasdan, co-writer of the original trilogy films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Abrams and Kasdan rewrote an initial script by Michael Arndt, who also wrote the story treatment. John Williams returns to compose the score, and Star Wars creator George Lucas serves as creative consultant.
The Force Awakens is produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm and Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Second-unit filming began in April 2014 in Abu Dhabi and Iceland, with principal photography taking place between May and November 2014 in Abu Dhabi, Ireland and Pinewood Studios in England. The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015. Source
BIRDMAN: "Relevant" Scene w/ Emma Stone!
Former cinema superhero Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) is mounting an ambitious Broadway production that he hopes will breathe new life into his stagnant career. It's risky, but he hopes that his creative gamble will prove that he's a real artist and not just a washed-up movie star. As opening night approaches, a castmate is injured, forcing Riggan to hire an actor (Edward Norton) who is guaranteed to shake things up. Meanwhile, Riggan must deal with his girlfriend, daughter and ex-wife.
In this clip, Sam (Emma Stone) blows up at her father Riggan's (Michael Keaton) existential crisis in this explosive scene from Alejandro González Iñárritu's BIRDMAN.
Bionic Opening Themes!
The Six Million Dollar Man is an American television series about a former astronaut with bionic implants working for a fictional government office known as OSI. The series is based on the Martin Caidin novel Cyborg, which was the series's proposed title during pre-production. Following three television movies aired in 1973, The Six Million Dollar Man aired on the ABC network as a regular series for five seasons from 1974 to 1978. The title role of Steve Austin was played by Lee Majors, who subsequently became a pop culture icon of the 1970s. A spin-off series, The Bionic Woman, ran from 1976 to 1978 (and, in turn, was the subject of a remake in 2007). Three television movies featuring both eponymous characters were also produced between 1987 and 1994.
The Bionic Woman is an American television series starring Lindsay Wagner that aired for three seasons between 1976 and 1978 as a spin-off from The Six Million Dollar Man. Wagner stars as tennis pro Jaime Sommers who is nearly killed in a skydiving accident. Sommers' life is saved by Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson) and Dr. Rudy Wells (Martin E. Brooks), by bionic surgical implants similar to those of The Six Million Dollar Man Steve Austin. As the result of Jaime's bionics, she has amplified hearing in her right ear, a greatly strengthened right arm, and stronger and enhanced legs which enable her to run at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour.
The series proved highly popular worldwide, gaining high ratings in the US and particularly so in the UK (where it became the only Science fiction program to achieve the No.1 position in the ratings during the 20th Century). The series ran for three seasons from 1976 to 1978 and was first shown on the ABC network and then the NBC network for its' final season. Years after its cancellation, three spin-off TV movies were produced between 1987 and 1994 as well as a reworked series in 2007.
Austrian men first to get mind-controlled bionic hands!
DOCTORS have performed the world's first "bionic hand reconstructions" - replacing a hand disabled by injury with a prosthetic that the patient can control with their mind. The three Austrian patients who underwent the procedure are now able to pick up objects, pour water, use a key and do up buttons with their artificial limb. Several patients around the world have now been fitted with bionic hands to replace lost or missing limbs, and a small number have been able to control them with signals from the brain. But the new procedure differs as the patients involved had been left with a functionless hand because of damage to the nervous system, and had to consent to doctors amputating their damaged limb in order to replace it with a prosthetic. Signals from the brain to the lower arm can, in rare cases, be cut off following a high-speed collision trauma injury, especially in motorcycle crashes or in rugby. Doctors at the Medical University of Vienna were able to create new nervous signals by transferring nerves and muscles from other parts of the body into the arm.
Exactly what is Net Neutrality?
On Jan. 14, 2014, a federal court of appeals struck down the Federal
Communications Commission’s
Open Internet Order, which was designed to prevent Internet service providers from blocking or slowing users’ connections to online content. The court did not comment on the validity of these rules but simply said that the FCC had used the wrong legal foundation to justify them.
Open Internet Order, which was designed to prevent Internet service providers from blocking or slowing users’ connections to online content. The court did not comment on the validity of these rules but simply said that the FCC had used the wrong legal foundation to justify them.
In response, on May 15 FCC Chairman
Tom Wheeler released flawed Internet rules that would have let ISPs
charge content companies for priority treatment — relegating all other
content to a slower tier of service. Wheeler’s plan would have
allowed telecom giants like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon to pick
winners and losers online and discriminate against online content and
applications. And it would have destroyed the open Internet. Without
Net Neutrality, ISPs would be able to devise new schemes to charge
users more for access and services, making it harder for us to
communicate online — and easier for companies to censor our speech. The
Internet could come to resemble cable TV, where gatekeepers exert
control over where you go and what you see. Without Net
Neutrality, ISPs would be able to block content and speech they don’t
like, reject apps that compete with their own offerings, and prioritize
Web traffic (reserving the fastest loading speeds for the highest
bidders and sticking everyone else with the slowest)....

Frigid temperatures by the Great Lakes are giving tourists a whole new reason to visit Niagara Falls. The famous waterfalls by the Canada-U.S. border were partially frozen this week as temperatures in the area hit 13 degrees below zero on Monday. Though the falls were hardly frozen solid—water continued to flow—layers of ice built up, giving the impression of a winter wonderland amid its icy mist and surrounding snow.

Jax Audition “I Want To Hold Your Hand” - American Idol 2015!
firefighter, but he was forced to
retire due to injuries sustained during 9/11. He’s still dealing with
the aftermath, since he tragically lost a lot of his fellow brothers
that day. Jax believes her singing has been therapy for him, and she
feels blessed that he’s even still here with her. It’s a really touching
opening package.

Jax hops on the piano and does a mellow, balladeer’s version of “I
Want To Hold Your Hand”. It’s absolutely stunning, and is right up there
with Joey Cook as one of my favorite auditions of the entire season so
far. Her vocal control is impeccable, and her tone is unlike anything
we’ve heard yet this season. She has a great look too, although a bit
too sparkly. Source
From the start, Jax has seemed naturally at-ease in a performance
setting. House of Blues is no different with Jax shuttling between piano
bench and mic stand like an old pro. Watch her dramatic rendition of
Lady Gaga’s “You and I” here.
Drones: Know The Rules Before You Fly!
Did you get a new unmanned aircraft for the holidays? Here's how to stay off the naughty list.
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones as they are often called, are increasingly available online and on store shelves. Prospective operators—from consumers to businesses—want to fly and fly safely, but many don’t realize that, just because you can easily acquire a UAS, doesn’t mean you can fly it anywhere, or for any purpose. “Know Before You Fly” is an educational campaign that provides prospective users with the information and guidance they need to fly safely and responsibly. Know Before You Fly was founded by the three leading organizations with a stake in UAS safety – the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and the Small UAV Coalition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is partnering with the founding members to spread the word about safe and responsible flying. Source

Underwear ‘snow-jumping’ craze angers mayor!
Foolhardy Bostonians are embracing the cold weather by stripping off and
jumping into huge piles of snow. Half-naked daredevils have been seen leaping into snowbanks as part of a new
craze called the Boston Blizzard Challenge. The city's residents have been filming themselves diving into snow and
uploading the footage online. Boston Mayor Martin Walsh criticised the latest trend and urged locals to stop
the dangerous stunts. “I’m asking people to stop their nonsense right now. These are adults jumping
out windows,” he said. “It’s a foolish thing to do and you could kill
yourself.
Note: Only adults are allowed to act like foolish idiots. Kids, don't try this....but if you do, wear a helmet, body armor and parachute!

China’s ‘Weapons in Miniskirts' Marching in Perfect Synchronicity!
At its October 1 National Day parade, China
rolled out an awesome array of made-in-China military hardware,
including nuclear-capable ICBMs that can strike Europe and the US.
But all of China is abuzz over another set of “weapons of mass
destruction” that were on show at the parade: a mini-skirted phalanx of
the Beijing Women’s Militia Police, whose trendy, figure-flattering pink
outfits, calf-length go-go boots and immaculate in-step marching drew
plenty of applause — and even a rare smile from a normally dour
President Hu Jintao.
The militia is a civilian force, and marching at this year’s parade
were university students, corporate workers, village officials — and
even young mothers! The two women who were heading the marching militia
unit — Zhang Xiaofei and Zhao Na — are final-year students at China
Women’s University in Beijing, who deferred their graduation for the
honour of participating in this year’s 60th anniversary parade. They are
also professional models — and China’s newest sweethearts.
